We're Open!
Stoney Health Services has been steadily expanding our outreach services, crisis support, and mental health/addictions service capacity over the past five years to address emerging substance use concerns.
This new facility provides a holistic approach to care close to home for Stoney Nation members on reserve (Mînî Thnî, Eden Valley, and Bighorn).

Message from the Premier of Alberta
Our sincere thanks to The Honourable Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta for sharing a kind message for the community to celebrate our opening! Our thanks also to The Honourable Dan Williams, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions for joining us in person for the ceremony and sharing his support for this wonderful community initiative.
Vision: A therapeutic community focused on sobriety, healing, wellness and self-determination.
Mission: Recovery on our own land, in our own way…for a new start.
- Access: Our doors are open for Stoney people seeking treatment for substance use and providing guidance for the road to recovery. We will ensure that every person is able to access treatment knowing that they are supported, or referring clients to another service.
- Excellence: Our treatment services will reflect current evidence-based and 'Wise Practices' in the spirit of continuous improvement to ensure optimal quality of service for our client's, and a healthy workplace for our staff.
- Holistic, Person-Centered Care: We are committed to supporting each person's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs as we work together on their recovery in a culturally-safe space.
- Integrated Treatment Planning: As a team, we will collaborate alongside the client and their family to make sure their treatment is seamlessly coordinated.
- Recovery-Oriented & Strength Based Care: We promote sobriety, resilience and healthy changes; empowering our client's to use their strengths and skills to help take back control of their life.
- Trauma-Informed Care: Our clients who use substances may have experiences dealing with trauma, so we will strive to be worthy of their trust and provide them with safe opportunities for choice, collaboration, control and skill building.
- To help clients access timely treatment services in a culturally-safe, 'therapeutic' community setting.
- To support families dealing with their own issues and being part of the recovery process.
- To engage and build open community partnerships to help the community actively support sobriety.
- To provide training in substance use treatment for community members as future service providers.
What's New
The Stoney Nakoda Adult Treatment Centre is a fully licensed residential/in-bed treatment facility. Since becoming operational in early November 2023, we have already helped one client graduate and is doing well in their recovery journey.
We are eagerly anticipating three more clients graduating from our program in mid-April. For our community, we have achieved great success.
