Medical Transportation Services are provided under the Non-insured Health Benefits Program. The program gives Stoney First Nations people a means to receive health services that are medically necessary but are not available on the Nation. Two types of medical travel services can be provided. The most common is non-urgent travel – people who have a medical condition but it is not an emergency. Taking a person to a specialist appointment is a common type of non-urgent travel. When a private vehicle is used, gas support is given to the person with the vehicle to help pay for gas and the use of the vehicle.
