The Community Health Nurse at Stoney Health Services is provides holistic and client/family-centered nursing services to Mînî Thnî community members. This includes conducting comprehensive health assessments, making referrals, providing direct nursing care, and promoting patient autonomy and self-care. The nurse will work within an interdisciplinary health care team and adhere to the standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and the Canadian Community Health Nurses Standards of Practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting health assessments and establishing diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Providing nursing care at various locations, including the Stoney Health Centre,  Schools, and clients’ homes.
  • Facilitating group classes, education, and workshops.
  • Implementing strategies to promote health and prevent disease.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Participating in quality improvement, risk management, and accreditation activities.

Professional requirements include registration with the CRNA and relevant certifications. The position also requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, as well as experience or interest in Indigenous culture.
